Building a comic series landing page that works

A series landing page has one job: turn a curious visitor into a reader who comes back for the next chapter. This guide walks through three decisions that shape it, with one worked example.

Decide the single first action — KomixoA useful path from inputto understanding

01

Decide the single first action

Choose what a new visitor should do within ten seconds: read chapter one, subscribe for updates or follow the creator. Pick only one as the main button. Worked example: a fictional series called Moon Bakery, about a night-shift baker on a lunar colony. Its page leads with a Read Chapter One button above a cover image and a one-line pitch. Subscribe appears below as a secondary link. This ordering lets a curious visitor sample the story before being asked for an email address, which usually feels more natural than a request for commitment before any reading has happened.

02

Show the story, not a description of it

Place a real sample near the top: three to five panels that show tone, art style and pacing. Text summaries rarely convey what a comic feels like, so let the artwork carry it. For Moon Bakery, the sample shows the baker pulling a tray of glowing loaves while an alarm blinks in the background, with one joke and one hook in six panels. Add a short genre line, an update schedule and the chapter count beneath it. Readers decide quickly whether the voice suits them, and clear details about frequency tell them whether the series is active.

03

Make returning easy and track one signal

Give readers a way back: an email list, a feed link or a bookmark prompt placed after the last sample panel. List chapters in reading order with the newest clearly marked, and keep navigation to previous and next links. For Moon Bakery, the page ends each chapter with a Next Chapter button and a single email field offering notice of new episodes. Review one signal at a time, such as how many visitors reach chapter two, then adjust the sample length or opening panels. Changing one element per update shows what actually helped the page.
